This early 20th-century French sewing table is crafted in the Louis XV style, featuring a walnut frame with Vernis Martin panels. The serpentine front consists of a hinged top compartment that opens to reveal a divided interior with multiple sections for storing sewing implements, including a central pin cushion. Below, a single drawer provides additional storage. The table is fitted with ormolu escutcheons and decorative mounts.

The exterior is adorned with hand-painted porcelain plaques set within elaborate gilt bronze frames, each depicting pastoral scenes in the 18th-century Rococo manner. The ormolu mounts extend across the apron, drawer fronts, and corners, incorporating foliate and scrolling motifs. A pierced ormolu gallery encircles the top, while the bombe-shaped sides and serpentine apron enhance the table’s fluid silhouette, characteristic of the Louis XV aesthetic. The cabriole legs are further adorned with gilt bronze mounts at the knees and feet.

This piece was produced in France during the early 20th century, reflecting the continued appreciation for 18th-century revival styles. The use of Vernis Martin lacquer, a technique developed in France to imitate Asian lacquer, and finely executed porcelain plaques, suggests production by a workshop specializing in decorative furniture. The ormolu mounts, with their finely cast details, are consistent with the high-quality craftsmanship found in luxurious furnishings from this period.
