This porcelain jar features a globular body tapering toward a short, narrow neck, a common form in Chinese ceramics. The base bears a six-character Kangxi reign mark in underglaze blue, though the piece itself dates to the mid-to-late 20th century. This jar is part of the continued production of blue-and-red underglaze porcelain, a decorative style developed during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The exterior is painted with a continuous equestrian scene in underglaze blue, with iron-red enamel applied to the horses. Jagged rock formations and overhanging pine branches frame the composition. The iron-red decoration is applied with a stippled effect, contrasting with the fluid blue washes defining the landscape. Cloud motifs are incorporated into the background, integrating traditional elements of Chinese porcelain painting.

This jar was produced in Jingdezhen, the primary center of Chinese porcelain manufacture. During the mid-to-late 20th century, kilns in Jingdezhen replicated earlier Qing-style designs for both domestic and export markets. The use of underglaze blue and iron red remained a favored technique, requiring precise control of firing temperatures to achieve the proper color balance.
